Family Fridays #5 – Baby Brain, Craft and Pizza Express
I’ve been back at work for just over a month now but yet to find a regular Friday activity for me and the little one. Mainly because I want to nap when he naps and most of the activities are during his nap time. However, I was determined to make more effort today! I searched online for suitable, local Children Centre activities and found something that could possibly fit in with our schedule. It was one of those 1st and 3rd Fridays malarkey so I made sure we’d got the right week – which isn’t as easy as you might think when running on little sleep!
Before setting out, I finally got round to determining the winner of the Baby Shower game I’d organised a few weeks ago with a little help of course. When we got to the Library (where the activity was being held), it was surprisingly devoid of other prams. I’m was on time and the clocks hadn’t changed so something else must be wrong. I asked at reception and it turns out I was at the wrong venue! In my defence, they were both similarly named. So we hung around, played with a few toys and drove the stationary fire engine. A guy randomly came up to us and said he wished he had my son’s hair and skin colour. We left the Library as naturally as possible immediately after that exchange haha.
On the way home, we went past a phallic flower, ventured into our usual shops and bought a toy drum. He loved the drum and jigged along to its music for a few minutes at a time. Then emptied the contents of a small basket and climbed into it. What is it with kids and trying to fit in containers that are way too small for this purpose?
It was coming up to the end of term so I did a quick graphic for my Church’s social media accounts. As my birthday was coming up soon, I had to find present ideas and a smart watch was on my wishlist! I trialled one from work and loved the step counter and sleep function. My pedantic side got the better of me when I spotted a typo on Argos’ page. I also decorated a bodysuit for my little one’s first baby love as it was her birthday tomorrow – our first children’s birthday party of many! Can’t quite remember why went Hawaiian with this. I think the baby girl in question was fascinated by boobs at the time.
In the early evening we went out for dinner at Pizza Express. Shame he wouldn’t keep the hat on for photos as he looked so cute in it. The crayons ended up on the floor and he smiled at all the waitresses who walked past us but never the waiters. We got home, did the usual routine with me also going to bed as we’d both be awake again in a couple of hours.
