Baby E’s due date was 2 days away from my birthday so I kept my legs crossed on my birthday! Although everyone kept reminding me that first babies are usually late anyway! He was 3 days late. A part of me was relieved that it wasn’t on the same day but I also think it would have been quite cute. We’d decided to do a joint birthday barbecue on Saturday. Which meant a stressful Friday for me – not that I could do much about it as I had to entertain the little one!
The day started with a trip to the great outdoors (aka our back garden) where he thoroughly enjoyed toddling around with the walker. Unfortunately, he still didn’t trust the grass which led to many hilarious one-leg hopping back to the slab. I captured lots of these moments on video and I can’t wait to show him when he’s older. Back indoors, we had more “walker” fun and he actually stood unaided but my attempts to capture this on video failed.
We did some piano “practice” which involved putting on demo song while he mashed the keys and bobbed along on my lap! I had decided to make his birthday cake, which in hindsight, I should have practiced first. Here’s the undecorated version. It was finished on Saturday morning but it didn’t look much better haha. Lots of people brought cake on the day so I didn’t have to bring this one out. Phew!
