The Christmas Tag 2017
3 sleeps before Christmas and I still haven’t sorted out all the presents or made any plans towards the pudding courses I’m in charge off. So to procrastinate further, I thought I would do a Christmas Tag post. Sarah from Whimsical Mumblings tagged me in hers so here goes:
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
I don’t really have one as I didn’t grow up with the tradition and I don’t really like watching the same movie over and over again.
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes. Quite a few years ago but not since I moved to the South of England.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
I usually spend it with family. With my family now living on a different continent, I spend it with the in-laws. Things kick off on Christmas Eve with a venison meal or Bambi as they like to call it. Sometimes I am forced to go for a walk before the meal. The main event is on Christmas day, where we open presents, before Christmas lunch. No one wants to wait any longer then play a few silly games before the older grown ups fall asleep on the sofa.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Same with the movie thing, I don’t really have one. if I had to pick, I would probably go with ye older “Come all ye faithful”. Not that you’ll hear that often on Radio 1. Haha
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No presents at all. Though now I have a little one, I am tempted to get him a book on Christmas Eve book when he’s older as our “not so novel” tradition (excuse the pun).
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
None at all. Can you tell that I didn’t grow up around Christmas traditions yet?
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
Err, the Sale? I love a good shopping trip though I will probably be doing most of it online. We are being treated to another Turkey this year, despite my heavy hints of other suitable alternatives so it’s definitely not the food. Haha.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. Never had a real one so don’t really know the difference and it’s one less thing to worry about getting every year.
What is your favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
For me it’s the pigs in blanket. It’s pork heaven on earth!
What is the best present you have ever received?
Can’t really remember but presents that I’ve asked for specifically are usually well-received. Last year I got an amazing pair of shoes which I am still wearing!
Where is your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I’m torn between somewhere really sunny like the Carribean and somewhere with guaranteed white christmas like New York. I’m thinking warm because I really need a holiday right now and freezing outside isn’t that relaxing no matter how pretty it is!
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
It depends on how bothered I am at the time. I think it’s a bit of a waste of money, time and effort so I use gift bag where I can and I always keep all the gift bags I get.
Most memorable Christmas memory?
Probably two Christmas’s ago when other half closed the side gate on his hand, on Christmas eve. I won’t go into the graphic detail but he came in saying he’s going to lose a finger. It was suitably repaired but it’s now a running joke to keep hands clear of the of the gate or any other closing device at Christmas.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I didn’t grow up with the Santa tradition so it was never really a mystery to me.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Honestly, I think Christmas is the most stressful holiday period. I always want time off after Christmas just to relax and have some me time. I wish family time could be scheduled throughout the year rather than over this one week period. Having time off work is the only real benefit. I’m hoping to focus on the true meaning of Christmas with my kids and create traditions that will hopefully make it less stressful for them when they grow up.
I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my Christmas world. Now i’m going to tag:
